Planning Commission

The five-member Planning Commission is appointed by the City Council to serve four-year terms. The members of the Commission shall be from among residents of the City of Sebastopol or shall be the owner of a business within the City of Sebastopol and a resident of one of the following school districts: Twin Hills, Sebastopol Union, and Gravenstein Union, and up to one person who is not in one of the above categories, but who is a resident of the area served by one of the following school districts: Twin Hills, Sebastopol Union, and Gravenstein Union, may also be appointed. Members shall be appointed by a majority of the members of the City Council.  A majority of the members the Planning Commission shall be residents from within the City limits at all times.  

The Commission is responsible for making recommendations to the City Council on the General Plan, Zoning Ordinance, Subdivision Ordinance, Cultural Heritage Ordinance, and other ordinances relating to land use, growth, and development review. The Commission also reviews various types of development applications such as Use Permits, Variances, and Subdivisions.

The Commission meets on second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at 6:00 p.m.

Sebastopol Free Organic Compost Giveaways 

Applying compost is one of many things you can do for the climate, it helps build soil health while retaining water! The free compost events are provided by the Sebastopol Climate Action Committee, the City of Sebastopol, Zero Waste Sonoma, and Napa Recycling & Waste Services.
