Permit Issuance

City Administration was made aware of the issuance of a permit for Little Caesars Pizza to be located at 231 Petaluma Avenue.

Upon review, the City of Sebastopol acknowledges that administrative approvals occurred in error during the processing and issuance of permits related to the Little Caesars project. Due to this error, permits were issued for a business that may not have otherwise been approved for this location under current zoning regulations. Following legal review, it has been determined that the business will be allowed to operate at this location.

To ensure that similar errors do not occur in the future, City Administration immediately initiated a comprehensive review of the permitting process to identify the cause and implement corrective actions. The City is instituting enhanced review protocols, additional staff training, and procedural safeguards to ensure that all future permit applications are processed in full compliance with applicable regulations and review requirements.

The City regrets this oversight, accepts full accountability for the error, and remains committed to transparency, accountability, and the consistent enforcement of City policies and procedures. We appreciate the community’s understanding and patience as we strengthen our processes and uphold public confidence in the integrity of City operations.
