Do I need a permit to remove a tree from my property?

Properties with a single-family or duplex residential use, may remove a tree without a permit if the tree has a single trunkthat is less than 20″ diameter at breast height (d.b.h.), or if the largest trunk of a tree with two or more trunks is less than 20″ d.b.h. On multifamily residential, commercial or industrially zoned properties, a protected native tree (minimum size limit is 10″ d.b.h.), or any other tree which has a minimum d.b.h. of 20″ or more if the tree has a single trunk, or which has at least one trunk with a minimum d.b.h. of 10″ if the tree has two or more trunks without first obtaining a Tree Removal Permit.
